This is a modified version of Sweet Maria's roast, in which I lengthened the middle part of the curve. Thursday's cup will tell how this works! (Tomorrow is Wednesday and I will be drinking the rest of the India Peaberry.)

The 1st crack started at -4:27 (and 395F) but wasn't really going strong until -4:00 (420F). The second crack came at -1:00 and at -:30 I stopped it.

I usually see this bean recommended for a lighter roast than where I took it tonight but I really like Indonesian beans at this roast. Actually I seem to like most beans right around here: it's become my favorite roasting point.

Tonight's roast looks good, and smells really great. The smell of the beans is kind of nutty. I roasted these beans about four hours ago, and they are starting to develop the occasional oil spot.

The beans are smooth and shiny, but not shiny from oil. It is more of that satiny shine, like wood that's been sanded and stained but not varnished. (The varnish comes later, at that first puff!) Of course, this is an Indonesian bean, so the roast isn't very even.
